To me this image is a reminder that its fast approaching April 25th, a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand, commemorated by both countries on 25 April every year to honor the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli in the Ottoman Empire during World War I.
It now more broadly commemorates all those who died and served in military operations for their countries.
This image of Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC USA taken in winter with vivid blue sky’s overhead and a cold bite in the air shows that remembrance of the past is vital to every nation and that in order to look forward we must embrace our experiences from the past. Arlington always seems so hauntingly beautiful to me, no more acutely than in winter.
I must admit to adding a creative element to this image.
